Lead an Emergency Control Organisation
This unit covers the competency required to make decisions about people's safety during a workplace emergency and to give instructions on the priority order for responding to the emergency or crisis. The Chief Warden course, Lead an Emergency Control Organisation, is designed to develop competent leaders and to increase effectiveness of an Emergency Control Organisation.

What will be involved?
Assessment will cover the ability to respond to emergency reports, signals and warnings properly, to give clear directions under emergency conditions, to make decisions appropriate to the situation, to keep others appropriately informed, to respond in accordance with the workplace emergency procedures, to take on a leadership role consistent with the emergency control organisation, and to operate in accordance with the command, control and coordinate framework of the emergency control organisation structures.
Who is this course for?
People who undertake this course may act as the primary liaison with emergency services after their arrival. This course provides participants designated to perform the role of Chief Warden, Deputy Warden and Communications Officer comprehensive training in fire safety and emergency management. It prepares participants with the opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge to prepare for and respond to onsite workplace emergencies and supervise evacuation of the workplace, including practical incident control, post evacuation management, human behavior, installed fire safety systems, emergency events and building evacuations.
This unit has been developed to cover the broad range of emergencies and workplaces as considered in Australian Standard 3745-2010 Planning for emergencies in facilities and Australian Standard 4083-2010 Health Care Facilities.
Duration
4 hours face to face training and hands on use of extinguishers and fire blankets on a live fire.
